Easter...wow, how many months ago was this!?!?!:
That bunny can jump really HIGH!!!
Good thing Daddy was here to help:
Isabel wrote a note to the bunny this year, so he wrote back to answer a few of her questions:
Trying out the peeps...an Easter tradition that makes me gag:

Ready for church:
This is the most amazing cake ever...it was sooo good that I ordered another one a couple of weeks later and am looking for an excuse to order again. My friend Andrea in Washington makes them and they are excellent (and I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to cake)!!!
A few weeks later, it was turkey season. This is Jason's Tom (I am proud to say that I can now tell the difference between a Tom, a Jake, and a Hen). He went out with his friend Ryan who called the bird in (side note: a turkey call sounds like nails on a chalkboard...really awful). It really is a beautiful bird (I should know...it was in my garage for three days).

Tom the Turkey was later wrapped in bacon, marinated in a brown sugar glaze, grilled, and renamed Dinner. It was so good that I am excited for next year's season! I know that the idea of hunting your dinner can seem rather crude, but I would prefer to eat an animal that lived a happy life and never knew what hit it, literally (Bad humor, but I had to throw that in there. Seriously, if a hunter is good, the death process it usually pretty quick and painless) as opposed to an animal that lived in a concrete pen for the weeks leading up to its scary death (I can say this with confidence...one day I went to the stockyards to pick up pig eyes for school and they let me tour the place. It was really interesting, but also very sad). If my recipes allowed me to eat only meat that was hunted, I would gladly do it. But, I do enjoy variety in my cooking, so for now, I do both.
Isabel got a science kit for her birthday (She asked for it...honestly, I am not pushing my career on her) She loves doing experiments and I love it too! I am not much of a chemistry/physics person, but I love that they are now old enough to actually understand the answer when they ask questions such as; "How does our body move?", "Why are plants green?", and "Why do baby birds not stay babies for very long?" (All of which are actual questions they have asked within just the last week).

Last January my Grandpa Ted passed away. He had been ill for a very long time and I take comfort knowing he is in a much better place now. He and my grandma had retired to New Mexico, so she planned a memorial service in his hometown of Ames, Iowa for the week of his birthday in April. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful service. My grandpa used to love to play old jazz tunes on his Sax...I remember listening to him play before I went to bed on most of my visits...even as a teenager, I enjoyed it. He also loved to watch the Cubs play and helped to prepare me for my marriage with Jason because he would mutter insults to the players when they didn't do well (of course, Jason screams at them, but it was at least an introduction to what my life would one day be like). Grandpa was a pretty quiet person, but if you listened really carefully, he was hilarious! He was a 'tell it like it is' kind of guy and I appreciate that! Hearing old stories at his memorial made me understand and adore him even more! My cousin Conner played some of grandpa's favorites with grandpa's sax at the service...he did a great job and I am sure grandpa enjoyed it.
My brother and his very pregnant wife Sky were able to make it (I still don't know how she was able to tolerate that car ride). They look so adorable that I had to include them:
A couple weeks later, little Miss Cora arrived! Shortly after she was born, she developed pneumonia and had to stay in the NICU for 14 days, but she is fine now and they are planning their first trip to Auntie Amber's house!!!!
I am going to spoil this little girl rotten...I just can't help myself!!!
Okay, I am caught up through April. My fingers are going numb and my children are playing in the street (okay, not really) so I am heading back to current-day for now! :)

Random Peeks from April...
I love my job very much, but the end of the year gets a little stressful. Between trying to teach kiddos that would rather be out in the sun, creating the school's yearbook, organizing the Talent Show, tutoring, and planning the end of the year activities for the Student Council, I barely find enough time to breathe! But, I love it all and that last burst of craziness at the end of the year helps me to appreciate summer break that much more! So, here are a few peeks at our life over the last few months...things that I would have loved to blog about, if I had the time...
