Lotsa Love!!!

Here are the girls before school on the day of their Valentine's parties...Isabel has been making hearts with her hands ever since she saw the idea in an album of my maternity photographs from my pregnancy with her. Ashlen is still learning this trick.

Yes, I know that Valentine's Day was weeks ago, but I have kept a file of the pictures on the desktop of my computer to remind me to post them as soon as I got a chance, so here they are, finally! We had a really great weekend...it would be nice if Valentine's Day could always fall during a three day weekend!

The week before, the girls and I made dipped Oreos for treats for their classroom parties. They turned out pretty good...even the white ones (I am NOT a fan of white chocolate at all, but it looked prettier in the bag to have one of each). Here is Ash helping to put the little candy hearts on the cookies:
The girls were pretty proud of these...unfortunately, it was bedtime before they could help me bag them all up, so I got to do that job in front of the latest episode of 'Castle'...I don't watch much besides HGTV, but I do love that show!
On Valentine's Day, I made a special breakfast for the girls...pink heart-shaped pancakes with chocolate chips! I even squirted a little whipped cream on their fruit and made slushies with the orange juice. My holiday dorkiness is on full-blast today, people!!! Later that day, I went to Alexander's Steakhouse. Did you know that if you ask nicely, you can get an uncooked steak to go? Yep...Jason's favorite Santa Maria sat in our fridge all afternoon just waiting for him to wake up!
At which time, our grill turned it into this:

My all-time favorite meal is crab legs, so that was my special dinner.
Not to leave the girls out, when I asked what they wanted for their special dinners, they both said Peanut Butter and Jelly. I didn't think that went well with fried green beans and cheesy potatoes, so we went with their second choice...McDonalds! Ashlen loves a plain cheeseburger and Isabel loves the nuggets.
For dessert, the girls and I had little chocolate cakes and I made Jason's favorite, angel food cake. Personally, I think the stuff tastes like a kitchen sponge soaked in coolwhip and then dipped in sticky crumbs. Needless to say, I don't make it very often (=EVER) so I figured this was a nice treat.

Jason and I did go on a 'date' the night before...we ended up seeing two separate movies alone, but we were in different movie moods (he wanted to see Wolfman and I wanted to see Valentine's Day) and the times were perfect, so it was a good solution!

Now, if only the weather would realize that we are finally heading into March and that everyone is ready for a few warm days....usually I am a 75+ degree kind of girl, but at this point I would take anything above 40! Come on Mother Nature, show us some love!!!

Love your post! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that is dorky on the holidays. It is just so much fun!!! I am still laughing about the fact that you saw two different movies. That's classic. I have to tell Chris...I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to do that. Hilarious!

Very cute pictures! It looks like you had a great Valentine's Day/weekend. I have to comment that you like the "Castle" show because Brian and I love that show! That is one show we watch together. Also, your cheesy potatoes looked delicious could you share your recipe? I am always looking for good recipes!
