Ashlen's class is studying different parts of our world and the animals that live in those areas. So, for Penguin Day the kids were all supposed to wear black and white. Coincidentally, Ashlen picked out a penguin for her toy from the aquarium, so she asked her teacher if it could come for a visit in honor of the special day (this was totally her idea and I appreciate her teacher letting her bring it because she was so excited). Here she is with her outfit and her chilly little friend:

100 Penguins?!?
The girls both had special days at school a couple of weeks ago...Isabel had her 100 school day and Ashlen had Penguin Day. For Isabel's 100th day, the kids were all supposed to attach 100 items to a hat which they would wear all day. I tried to think of the best method of attachment for items because all I could picture was a bunch of kids walking around with pieces falling off their hats. I had to go to Michaels to get some stuff for the school's Valentine's Party and I found these adorable little flowers with little metal pieces that attach them to scrapbook pages. Perfect! I can't believe that she is over halfway done being a 1st grader, but here she is with 100 flowers attached to her hat:
