It's a Beautiful Day for Orange...

Today our family participated in the MS Walk in Peoria. It was very special for so many reasons. First, it was the perfect day for a 3 mile stroll down one of Peoria's most beautiful streets with lots of good friends! Also, it was nice to wear orange...it helped to get us all in the mood for the Pumpkin Festival, which starts this Wednesday. Today was especially meaningful to me because my great grandfather died of MS, leaving behind a wife and two kids. I am proud to say that my grandmother and her brother became very admirable people, despite their young experience of losing their father to a long, hard battle with this disease. I believe that their hardships helped them to become such strong people. I often hear that I have a lot of my grandmother in me and I am proud of that! Finally, today was special because I have a friend that is a very special person. She was diagnosed with MS recently, but you would never know it. In doing some research on the disease, I have discovered that ones attitude can be half the battle. I can say with complete confidence that this girl will never let this disease get the best of her. I admire her courage and the example she sets for not only her children, but also her friends and everyone who knows her. I was proud to be a part of her team today and look forward to doing so for many years to come!
